Lucera, "One Hundred Cities Against Pain 2025": the Polyclinic participates in the 17th edition to raise awareness about chronic pain.

Who treats pain? A question that reflects the complexity of the diagnosis and treatment process for millions of people suffering from chronic pain, often forced into a long and frustrating journey between specialists.
The Pain Hub Center of the Foggia Polyclinic , directed by Gilda Cinnella , director of the Complex Structure of Anesthesia and Resuscitation and Palliative Care of the University of Foggia Polyclinic and Director of the School of Specialization in Medicine and Palliative Care of the University of Foggia, with the collaboration of the medical directors of the Structure Angelo Antonio Carrideo, Nicoletta Di Francesco and Teodoro Di Foggia , will participate on Saturday 8 November in the event "XVII Edition of One Hundred Cities against Pain 2025 ", which will take place in Lucera in Piazza Duomo from 10.00 to 20.00, with the patronage of the Foggia Polyclinic and the University of Foggia, and organized by the ISAL Foundation, president William Raffaeli and the Friends of ISAL Association , president Gianvincenzo D'Andrea and president of the Foggia Section Leonardo Consoletti.
During the day, doctors and volunteers will provide information on modern medical approaches to chronic pain relief at a gazebo in Lucera's Piazza Duomo . At 12:00 p.m., a short conference will be held at the Circolo Unione in Lucera to introduce the day, attended by civil and religious authorities, and to illustrate the methods used at the Pain Medicine Hub Center.
The initiative will highlight the need for healthcare professionals to reflect on their responsibility to care for people with chronic pain and how to guide them through their treatment journey, ensuring access to the hospital network or accredited pain therapy facilities, where professionals with specific expertise can guide patients through the necessary diagnostic and therapeutic investigations.
The "One Hundred Cities Against Pain" event aims to : raise awareness among citizens, healthcare professionals, and institutions of the need for more equitable and effective management of chronic pain, both cancer-related and otherwise. Promote the role of a multidisciplinary and interprofessional network that enables effective dialogue between primary care physicians, pain therapy specialists, psychologists, physiotherapists, and other professionals. Reaffirm the importance of scientific research in identifying new therapies for pain syndromes that still lack effective treatments. Generate greater institutional and social attention to chronic pain as a bio-psycho-social disease, requiring investment in treatment, training, and research. Foster a culture of pain and its management among the general population, so that everyone is aware of the importance of a timely and effective approach to reducing the impact of suffering.
The Pain Therapy Hub Center at the Foggia Polyclinic is located at the Lastaria Hospital in Lucera. It is open Monday through Friday (tel. 0881/738449) and treats all types of acute and chronic pain, both benign and malignant, as well as any interventional procedures.
